I said I would, didn't I?

[ He keeps his voice at a murmur, barely breathing out the words against her ear. His hand around her finds her forearm, curling around it, thumb brushing her skin. He leans in to press a kiss to her shoulder, his own eyes closed. ]

[ He'd kept his word. He came back. He wanted to be with her. He could have gone home to his own bed, one where he would fit completely and could relax. And yet, here he is, in her dorm room, pressed up next to her.] Yeah, you did, [ she mumbles tiredly, her eyes falling shut for a moment, just basking in that very fact, in the gentle touch and the soothing warmth of his body against her still aching muscles.]

Thank you.

[ He pushes his nose into her hair, relaxing behind her; the bed is ridiculously small, and they'd be more comfortable in his apartment, but he's here now, and she's tired. He's not carrying her all the way through another building. He smiles, squeezing his arm around her. ]

Of course. Anytime, Charlie. Anytime.

[ And he means it. ]

[ Maybe it's a little sad but this will mean more to her than she can ever really say, the fact that he came back, after everything. And when she feels him smile into her hair, she lets out a soft, contented but tired sigh. ]

Stay?

[ His arm squeezes her again, gently. He settles against her, like someone who plans on spending the night, which he is. ]

I'm not going anywhere, baby.

[ It's easy to fall asleep like this, snuggled close to him, wrapped in his arms. And it's strange how much more soundly she sleeps, how the warmth of his body eases the aching of her own. She hums softly, happily when he tells her that he's not going anywhere before she drifts right to sleep.]
